AMAZING weekend full of great news

Via Daily Cup of Couture

The past three days have been crazy in the best possible way! I received amazing news TWICE on Friday. I couldn’t stop shaking I was so excited. I’ll be able to fill you in once everything is finalized in the next couple of weeks.

In addition to the great news, Lovestru.ck has officially been tricked out with the help of two new apple products. Hello productivity!

And lastly, I’m so proud to announce I have two new clients. These weddings are going to be packed with beautiful things and lots of fun!

I’ll be back later today with some inspiration in my wedding awards post.

Happy Weekend

I came across a lot of great clothing posts this week, or maybe my realization that I need some new fall clothing staples has made me zero in on them. Either way, you can’t deny that autumn is the most interesting season for fashion. There are so many fun layering and color options. Have a lovely weekend. See you on Monday!

Our Wedding: The e-stationery

Like I mentioned yesterday, we sent out all of our wedding communications via email and our website. We decided to use MailChimp to create email campaigns for our save-the-dates, invitations, and wedding reminder emails. By using this service, we could track who opened our emails and which links they clicked on. Unlike regular mail, we were able to make sure all of our communication pieces were being sent to the right place and were being opened. This paperless approach does not work for all weddings. We had a very small guest list, and over 60% of our guests were under the age of thirty and tech-savvy.

I have nothing against paper stationary. In fact, I’m a little obsessed with it. When I have meetings with Lesley from Inclosed, I explore her shop like a museum. All of the colors, patterns and textures are so remarkable. This art form/traditional wedding correspondence is the way to go for the majority of weddings.

I included the invitation and save the date I designed for our wedding. You can see the invitation has the same cohesive design elements as the wedsite.

Our Wedding: The "Wedsite"

In attempts to be environmentally-conscious, we chose to distribute all of our wedding communications via email and our website. Furthermore, not a lot of couples have careers as an interactive developer and software engineer, so we felt we had to take advantage or our technical skills to create a fun wedding website (or “WEDsite” as Lovestru.ck likes to call them).

I incorporated our wedding color scheme, typography and design elements into the wedsite to make it cohesive with our other wedding stationary and decor. I designed the wedsite to give our guests a sneak peak of what to expect from our wedding and provide them with any pertinent wedding information.

Home Page

Once I had finished the design, I developed the website’s functionality. Our wedsite doesn’t have a traditional layout. The navigation links direct the user to the different sections of the website on one giant “page” rather than a bunch of separate pages.

One of the coolest features of our wedsite is the RSVP widget. We created a database of all of our wedding guests and assigned them a unique ID that was emailed to them with their save the dates. Our guests used their ID to login and RSVP for our wedding. You can view the RSVP widget by clicking on the “Guest Info” link on the home section.

You can use my sister’s ID (6712) to see how the widget works. Once our guests filled out the form, their information was saved in our database, so we could easily see who could attend and how many people would need special meals from our caterer.

Wedsite design and development is included in Lovestru.ck’s a la carte services (the Lovestru.ck website will be up this weekend for you to view all of our design and planning services). I look forward to sharing more personalized client wedsites with you.

Wedding Awards

I’ve realized that I tend to focus on the pictures of wedding venues in the hundreds of wedding blog posts I read each week. Maybe it’s because I’m currently searching for venues for a couple clients, or maybe it’s because I have been obsessed with interior architecture and design since I was really little.

You’ll find some breathtaking venues below. My favorite “venue” is actually various locations around Paris as a couple shared their adventure eloping in the City of Light. Enjoy the inspiration!

Our Wedding: The video

We received our wedding video yesterday from the talented Lukas Holoubek. It perfectly captures everything about that day- the tremendous decorating process lead by an army of family and friends, the personalized ceremony, all of the decorating details, the heartfelt toasts, the outrageously fun photobooth and of course the energetic dance party! I thought this video would be a great way to begin a series of wedding blog posts. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll explain all of the wedding details from the stationary to the attire and much much more!

Happy Weekend

{a href="http://www.tumblr.com/dashboard" target="_blank"}Image: Tumblr{/a}

This weekend’s weather is suppose to be really nice, but I can’t wait for the temperature to drop a few degrees so I have another excuse to snuggle with the hubby. We’re helping our good friends move this weekend, and I’ll be finishing the Lovestru.ck website (yippee!) and sorting through all of the beautiful pictures Em sent us this week. Here’s to a wonderful weekend! See you on Monday!

Register for this: Items from our Registry and Artwork!

Rich and I are in the process of writing all of our thank yous for our wedding. We were so fortunate many of our guests were able to celebrate with us. Most of my family lives out-of-state, so I was really touched by all of them who made the long trip to Nebraska. We received so many great wedding gifts, and I wanted to share some of them with you below. As you may have noticed, Rich and I love to cook, so we mostly registered for durable cookware to replace the items we had inherited from our parents. I’m so excited to host our first Kalasky dinner party and put some of our cool kitchen utensils and serving dishes to good use!

Lovestru.ck Business Cards

I have admired Lesley Peterson’s work from the moment I walked past her adorable store front a few years ago. She creates the most beautiful and fun stationary items for numerous brides around the Omaha area, and her letterpress work is 100% original a 1000% amazing. Designing and printing my Lovestru.ck business cards gave me the first opportunity to work with this talented lady. You can’t tell from the pictures, but the cards are printed on shimmery stardream paper, so you’ll have to see them in person to really see how cute they are.

Check out more of Lesley work at Inclosed Studios here and here.
