Kansas City Editorial

After meeting with Meghan Savage of Meghan Savage Photography and Amy Cason of Victorian Gardens at Amigoni Urban Winery, we knew we wanted to design an inspiration shoot in the light-filled and historic building. Located in the Stockyards District of Kansas City’s West Bottoms, Amigoni Urban Winery is the renovated Daily Drover Telegram Newspaper Building. The winery includes original moulding, expansive ceilings, and an industrial barrel room.

We centered the inspiration shoot around a couple who would be drawn to the building’s clean, white design and at the same time appreciate its original architecture and history. Our couple loves modern design balanced with thoughtful artistic details. As history lovers, they let the building’s past newspaper operation inspire their wedding day. You’ll notice a printing press motif in the stationery as well as on the cutting cake. Their color palette complements the lightness of the building – cream, blush, and taupe. We added ink to balance the palette and mimic the dark moulding in the venue. Lastly, for a touch of the unexpected, we incorporated a subtle pop of neon yellow throughout the design.

Mildale Farms Shoot in Kansas City

We were introduced to Mildale Farms in Kansas by Amy from Victorian Gardens. After scoping out the wedding property online, we were immediately drawn to the expansive manicured property. We designed the shoot to feel regal and pristine to play off of Mildale’s grand equestrian-style barn. Ultrapom supplied our table elements. We selected Arte Italica chargers and paired them with vintage glassware and flatware. Amy filled a cast-iron urn with blooms in various creams and antique ivory tones. Taper candles were placed in iron registers covered with moss. Shasta Bell designed the stationery suite to include handmade deckled paper and traditional serif fonts to complement the table design.

Our model, Jessica, from Voices and Models, wore a traditional sleeved gown from Bride. We layered a voluminous skirt on top of the all-lace gown to add movement. Jamie from the Hair Parlour kept Jessica’s make up natural. Jessica’s hair was tied in an understate braid – another nod to our equestrian inspiration.
