Calligraphy Instructor – Cheryl Dyer

Workshop Description:

Swept away by beautiful lettering? Learn how to create your own flourished beauties and create a project to take home!

Our class offers basic instruction in Copperplate calligraphy—the basis of “modern calligraphy”.  Participants will be given guidance on using their new calligraphy tools and materials as well as instruction on making beautiful capital letters.

Class participants will focus on perfecting a single letter that will be used by the instructor to craft return address stamps that can be used on any piece of mail that you’d like to add an extra special touch.   Stamps will be ready for pick-up within a few weeks after class.

Students will leave the class with detailed exemplars and guide sheets for at-home practice as well as all the materials and tools provided at the class. No calligraphy experience (or good handwriting!) needed. Students with prior calligraphy experience will benefit from guidance by an experienced instructor.

There is only 16 spots available, so call to reserve your seat!

Our Wedding: The e-stationery

Like I mentioned yesterday, we sent out all of our wedding communications via email and our website. We decided to use MailChimp to create email campaigns for our save-the-dates, invitations, and wedding reminder emails. By using this service, we could track who opened our emails and which links they clicked on. Unlike regular mail, we were able to make sure all of our communication pieces were being sent to the right place and were being opened. This paperless approach does not work for all weddings. We had a very small guest list, and over 60% of our guests were under the age of thirty and tech-savvy.

I have nothing against paper stationary. In fact, I’m a little obsessed with it. When I have meetings with Lesley from Inclosed, I explore her shop like a museum. All of the colors, patterns and textures are so remarkable. This art form/traditional wedding correspondence is the way to go for the majority of weddings.

I included the invitation and save the date I designed for our wedding. You can see the invitation has the same cohesive design elements as the wedsite.

Inspiration: True Love

I’m getting married in three days, and I thought these pictures were the perfect inspiration for my upcoming nuptials. They are saturated in the pure and true love that these newlyweds share for each other. Yes I love weddings full of design and fashion, but most importantly, I love Richard Donald Kalasky more than anything else in the world, and I am so glad to have to opportunity to share that with my nearest and dearest friends and family.
